New modular version of Adaptyst released and more modules coming soon

After several months of work and a licensing consultation with the CERN Open Source Program Office, we released the modular redesign of Adaptyst yesterday along with the first module “linuxperf”: Adaptyst, Adaptyst Analyser, adaptyst-linuxperf (Adaptyst part), adaptyst-analyser-linuxperf (Adaptyst Analyser part). Please accept once more our apologies for the delay: we are taking measures to ensure more realistic release dates in the future.

The new version of the tool is a major update featuring integration with DaCe, so we invite you to look at the updated installation instructions and documentation. The important information to mention here is the licensing change: everything in the project including the Adaptyst core is distributed under the GNU GPL v3 (or later version) license now with a few exceptions (e.g. the Adaptyst part of the linuxperf module is licensed under GNU GPL v2 only). If you want to develop a plugin or module for Adaptyst and don’t want it to be GPL-licensed, we are open to discussing options: contact us!

Please note that this is still a development version. All feedback is welcome, you can submit it either on GitHub or (if at CERN) on Mattermost.

Additionally, we would like to announce three more modules that are currently in development or will be in development soon:

  • nvgpu: a module for NVIDIA GPUs targeting the 3 November release.
  • cusmet (a preliminary name): a module for any metrics obtainable from external tools such as power consumption. No target release date yet.
  • soc-baremetal (a preliminary name): a module for bare-metal software running on SoC’s like AMD/Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+. No target release date yet.

Have fun with the new version of Adaptyst and stay tuned for future updates!
