Making Adaptyst setup easier

Adaptyst along with the linuxperf and nvgpu modules has been available for installation only from source so far. To increase the accessibility of our tool for users, that situation is about to change. Within the next two weeks (i.e. by 20 February inclusive), three new things will be introduced:

  • An add-on setup mechanism in Adaptyst allowing developers to release modules just as a single package file and users to install modules just by pointing Adaptyst to their packages. linuxperf and nvgpu will be updated accordingly for this. A similar mechanism will be provided for workflow plugins as well when their support arrives in the tool.
  • x86-64, arm64, and RISC-V binary releases of Adaptyst and the linuxperf module for Linux (the binary release of nvgpu may have a more limited set of supported CPU architectures).
  • Adaptyst container images based on AlmaLinux 10 and Gentoo Linux (both of them will come with a frame-pointer-enabled environment).

Additionally, for the CERN community, we are aiming for a CVMFS re-release of Adaptyst in the LCG stack in the same timeframe, depending on the LCG team at CERN.

Stay tuned!
